I HOPE YOU CAN HEAR ME FROM THERE

EXHIBITION
New Moves. 2022.
STALA CONTEMPORARY, PERTH.

Monuments exist for the purpose of remembering, but what if monuments could also act as portals and tools to communicate with those with whom we are separated by space, time and logic? What are the ways in which our longing can manifest in stone and anthropomorphic idols of people, demons, spirits and guardians whose faces we do not know? Based off Nazerul’s year long research on migrant identities and spirit cosmologies and culture, the body of work were tangential to his earlier ruminations.

This collection of works was exhibited in the inaugural art graduate invitational group exhibition at Stala Contemporary.
