Taking the heavily syncretic practice of Datok Kong veneration as a point of departure, Nazerul explored what contemporary shrines to past memories of places and experiences growing up in Singapore, along with his experience of working in a dead-end job as an Allied Educator circa 2010 - 2016 would look like. This body of work consisting of 12 hopeful and satyrical shrines was part of a group exhibition during the onset of the global Covid-19 pandemic when the most of the world was in isolation.
