In a multicultural society like Singapore, commual dining setting can be challenging due to various religious or cultural dietary restrictions. When Can We Eat Together Again? is inspired by my experience of food habits and customs growing up in a Muslim household. The dining table-esque setting with ceramic crockery and utensils explores the dynamics of navigating Halal eating within inclusive and social contexts. The text inside each ceramic-ware are anecdotal accounts of individuals managing Halal eating, collected from a public survey I conducted. An activation was conducted on 7 July where I spoke about my experiences and collected stories, concerns, and questions pertaining to the subject matter as a means to extend the conversation beyond the art objects.
